You do not need a high-end panini sandwich press just to come up with great, authentic tasting panini grill sandwiches. You can make them on your outdoor gas or charcoal griller. The mystery that lies behind the great taste of panini is simply the grilling process. Grilling these delicious sandwiches, heats all the ingredients together making them virtually melt in your mouth.

Panini sandwiches are made with the filing placed between two slices of bread and then grilled instantly. They are pressed together firmly while being cooked. Such pressure allow the ingredients pressed together to become more tasty combinations and since this is all heated, it also gives a crispier outside. Hence, panini are very popular. If you look for panini grill recipes, you will find a lot of variations. However, the best ones will include thinly sliced red or white meat, grated or thinly sliced cheese and a combination of fresh vegetables.

The bread you use must be hearty, not light and airy. The reason for this is that the bread must be able to withstand the grilling process. The last thing you want is for your sandwich to be soggy and fall apart. Therefore it is important to select a crispy, Italian bread like Ciabata or focaccia. These are the most common Italian picks, but any compact bread, particularly herbed bread, is a best choice. Be sure it is flat so that it grills evenly.

The choices for fillings are as different and exciting as you'd like them to be. If you choose meats you will prefer them to be precooked or cured since the grilling process is meant to heat the sandwich, not cook the fillings. Most desired meats are proscuitto, salami, roast beef, chicken, turkey or pastrami. Another great alternative to meat is thinly sliced salmon fish, smoked lets it become a delicious sandwich. You can also make panini with last night's leftover grilled fish. Panini grill recipes that have smoky flavors are great since this is what panini are best known for.

A lot of panini grill recipes will require you to use a special panini grill. While it is great to use the right equipment to make these sandwiches, if you do not have one or don't want to buy one just yet, don't worry. You can still enjoy eating panini sandwiches on your outdoor grill. This is an ideal option for adding flavor through a new cooking process. If you have a waffle maker, that will do as well. They secret is to make sure you preheat the surface well and put pressure on the sandwich while cooking. Basically, if you are using your outdoor grill, just place a brick on your panini while cooking them. Don't forget to place a piece of tinfoil underneath the brick so that you aren't getting any dirt on your sandwich.

There can be a lot of options for making panini grill recipes, but the easiest and the tastiest are the ones you make yourself, using your imagination. Your friends and family will love the personal touch and you will want to do it again and again.
