Prices On Carpet Cleaning

A major issue of carpet owners, both actual and prospective, is the prices on carpet cleaning. Buying up the carpets themselves and having them installed may not be all that expensive depending on the people who sell them to you and the deal you cut with them, but it is the after-sales maintenance that can prove to be a deal-breaker for many. This is why many carpets are only cleaned occasionally approximately every 5 to 7 years despite the fact that they are stepped on and used on a daily basis.

In the USA, the average home is said to contain around 1000 square feet of carpeting. Research shows that the national average carpet cleaning cost for fully carpeted houses is about $0.30 per square foot. This means that owners of fully carpeted residences can expect to spend around $300 every time a professional cleaning service is called over. A rule of thumb is that if your house has more than 1000 square feet of carpeting, you can most probably be able to negotiate for a discount per square foot due to the large amount of carpeting you have. But if you have less than 1000 square feet, your per-square-foot costs will most probably go up.

Interestingly enough, those who have their carpets cleaned more frequently may actually end up spending less on their cleaning services in the long run. If someone has his or her carpets cleaned, say, once a year instead of once every 5 years, then he or she may just be able to negotiate for a discount with the company that provides these cleaning services. And he or she can be assured of having much cleaner carpets as well.

As mentioned, some cleaning companies prefer to charge by square foot. This can be a little inconvenient because they will have to come over and measure the carpeted areas in order to give you a good estimate. Despite the inconvenience, though, some people prefer this method because they are able to get what they feel are more accurate prices on carpet cleaning.

However, other carpet cleaning companies may charge primarily by room instead of charging per square foot. This works better for those houses which are not fully carpeted, and helps cleaners give prospective customers good estimates of their costing even before they actually see the house and carpeting themselves. Take note that the average size for a room is around 200 to 300 square feet, which means that if your room or rooms are larger than that, you will be charged for two rooms instead.

Lastly, something to think about. As with all other services, you don't get what you don't pay for. Companies that offer services whose prices are too good to be true may be trying to pull a scam on prospective customers. So think twice before going with a company that is offering suspiciously low pricing. It can also help to do some background research on companies before you decide which to go with.
